MILLION-DOLLAR FINANCE QUESTIONS

Questions for serious capital.

Start here if you are considering a facility from $1 million to a major multi-stage development loan.

What is your minimum enquiry amount?

Commercial Finance Loans focuses on funding enquiries of $1 million or more. If your genuine requirement is less, we would not recommend taking extra debt solely to reach that threshold.

Does every loan product go up to $250 million?

No. The upper end relates to qualifying large commercial development or bespoke funding transactions. Individual products, including ordinary business and equipment loans, have different limits and lender criteria.

Can I combine business acquisition costs, equipment and working capital?

Potentially. A larger plan may be supported by separate facilities for the acquisition, identifiable assets and working capital. Each portion must be assessed, priced and approved appropriately.

How do I know whether a $1 million facility is affordable?

Start with actual free cash flow after existing operating costs and obligations. The funding planner can show hypothetical repayments. A proper lender assessment also looks at trading performance, security, repayment sources, risk and terms; the calculator cannot determine approval.

What if I already have several loans?

Existing facilities can be reviewed for possible refinance or consolidation, sometimes alongside extra working capital or asset finance. A lower monthly payment is not guaranteed and a longer term can increase total interest paid.

Can I defer repayments for the first 12 months?

Some secured business funding products advertise a 12-month no-repayment structure. Availability is product-specific and subject to eligibility. Interest may accrue or be capitalised, making the eventual outstanding amount higher.

Can funding be used partly outside the business?

One of NoBnk’s published products describes funding use as more than 50% business-related. This is not a universal term and it does not mean personal expenses are automatically approved. Explain the actual intended purposes and let the lender establish eligibility and the correct product.

How long does a $1 million or $20 million approval take?

It depends on the structure, documents, valuation, security and lender. Smaller secured facilities may be assessed quickly; acquisitions and major developments involve deeper due diligence and can take materially longer. We can discuss indicative timeframes once the details are known.

Who receives the funding?

Depending on the product, funds may be paid to the borrower’s nominated business account, an equipment vendor, property settlement parties or construction suppliers through staged drawdowns. The lender determines disbursement conditions in the facility documents.

What should I prepare before I enquire?

Start with a business and project summary, the requested amount, broad use of funds, trading history, available security and intended repayment or exit strategy. More detailed financials and project documentation may be requested as the assessment progresses.

What if our development programme needs more than $250 million?

Use our specialist funding enquiry pathway. It goes directly to the principal contact and is labelled as a priority major transaction. We cannot guarantee that a funding provider can accommodate every proposal or timeframe.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Getting started.

How do I apply for a business loan?

Complete the enquiry form with the finance type, approximate amount, business name, trading history, turnover and contact details. We will contact you to discuss the possible next steps. A formal lender application happens later if you choose to proceed.

Is submitting an enquiry the same as applying for credit?

No. The website enquiry starts a conversation. It is not an offer, a formal credit application or an approval.

How much can I borrow?

Loan sizes depend on the product, business turnover, collateral, lender and purpose. Explain the amount you need, even if it is large or you are unsure which product is appropriate.

How long do I need to have been trading?

Trading history requirements vary. Many unsecured products prefer an established trading record, while asset-backed or specialist transactions may use different criteria.

Do I need a perfect credit score?

Not necessarily. Some specialist lenders may consider imperfect payment histories, defaults or ATO arrangements, but these can affect eligibility, costs and terms.

Can I enquire if the bank said no?

Yes. A bank decline does not automatically exclude every specialist or non-bank solution. Please tell us the reason if you know it.

Will the enquiry itself run a credit check?

Completing this website form does not itself run a credit check. A lender may request consent for a credit assessment later as part of a formal application.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Approval, documents & funds.

How quickly will I hear back after enquiring?

We aim to contact you to discuss the request, but we do not publish a guaranteed response time. You can indicate how urgently the business needs funding.

How long does loan approval take?

Some lenders advertise initial assessments in 24–48 hours and certain straightforward deals may settle in a few business days. Development and property transactions may take longer because of due diligence, valuations, documents and conditions. Timing is not guaranteed.

What documents should I have ready?

Often business identification, ABN details, bank statements, financial records, information on existing facilities and details of the proposed use of funds. Equipment purchases may need supplier quotes, while development deals may need plans, approvals and feasibilities.

Will the money be deposited in my business account?

Working-capital funding may be deposited to an approved business bank account. Equipment funding often pays the vendor; commercial property purchase funds are handled at settlement; and construction funds may be drawn in stages.

Do I need to provide my house as security?

Not for every product. Some facilities are unsecured, while other loans require business assets or property as security.

Can I apply with tax debt?

Some specialist products may consider applicants with ATO debt or payment arrangements. Lenders will want to understand current obligations and how the business proposes to repay the new facility.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Repayment choices & multiple facilities.

Can I have two, three or more loans for the same business?

Potentially. A business can have distinct equipment, working-capital, property and other facilities at once. Lenders assess the total debt burden, cash flow, existing security and affordability.

Can existing business loans be combined into one repayment?

Sometimes. Refinancing or consolidation may replace selected eligible loans with one facility. The lender considers payout amounts, security, costs and total affordability.

Will consolidation give me a lower interest rate?

Not necessarily. It may produce a different rate or repayment structure, but you should compare establishment costs, exit costs and the total repayments over the entire term.

Can I choose an interest-only loan?

Some property, development and specialist business facilities offer interest-only periods. Interest-only usually leaves the principal balance unpaid during that period.

Can I delay repayments for 12 months?

Selected business-purpose facilities may offer deferred scheduled repayments for up to 12 months. This is not available on every finance product; interest and fees may still accrue and the total debt can increase.

Can I pay a business loan back early?

Often you can request an early payout, although a lender may apply break fees, minimum charges or other conditions. Check the facility terms.

Can I change my repayment schedule after approval?

Some lenders allow variations or refinancing, subject to an updated assessment and fees. Speak to the lender before payments fall due if circumstances change.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

How each product works.

What is equipment finance?

It is finance for business assets such as cars, vans, trucks, machinery or technology. The provider often pays the approved seller and the business repays according to the contract.

What is invoice or debtor finance?

It allows a business to access funding against eligible invoices owed by customers. “Debtors” are customers who owe the business money.

What is a line of credit?

A line of credit is a revolving facility with an approved maximum limit. You can generally draw and repay within the terms, and costs may be based partly on the amount used.

What is trade or purchase-order finance?

It helps fund eligible supply purchases or large confirmed orders, allowing a business to source goods or materials ahead of customer receipts.

What is development finance?

It is funding assessed around a property development project. The lender may pay approved construction costs through staged drawdowns after progress verification.

Can I borrow to buy another business?

Acquisition finance may be available for eligible transactions. Providers review the purchase, business performance, buyer experience and ability to service the loan.

What is sale-and-leaseback?

An eligible business asset is sold to a finance provider and leased back under agreed terms, potentially unlocking capital while retaining use of the asset.

Does equipment finance always mean no repayments for 12 months?

No. Some specific funding products or loan structures may offer a deferred-payment period, but ordinary vehicle and equipment loans often require regular repayments. We can discuss whether a deferral is available for your actual transaction.

Could my business have three loans and a line of credit at once?

Potentially. A business may hold different facilities for different needs, but lenders assess combined repayments, existing commitments, available security and suitability.

Can I borrow $250,000 and later seek another $500,000?

Possibly, but approval of one facility does not establish eligibility for another. Each application is assessed against current circumstances and existing debt.

Can an Australian business finance a large purchase order?

Some lenders offer trade or purchase-order facilities that can help with eligible confirmed orders, subject to supplier, buyer and transaction checks.

Can I get funds out of equipment the business already owns?

Some lenders may consider sale-and-leaseback or other asset-backed structures. The equipment must meet ownership, condition and valuation requirements.

Can my business borrow to pay tax arrears?

Selected business finance products may permit eligible tax or debt refinancing purposes. Approval, costs and alternatives should be assessed.

Are there options after a bank declines my application?

Some private and non-bank lenders apply different criteria. Previous declines and existing repayment issues still need to be discussed accurately.

Is interest-only the same as paying nothing?

No. Interest-only generally means paying interest without reducing principal. A payment deferral or capitalised interest structure works differently and can increase the amount owed.

Can you guarantee a lower rate if I consolidate my loans?

No. Refinancing may change rates, fees, repayments and terms, but total costs and any break fees determine whether the outcome is better.
