EXPLAINED IN PLAIN ENGLISH

How this finance could work.

A business line of credit provides a limit that may allow eligible drawings, repayments and re-borrowing under the facility terms. It can suit recurring, uneven cash-flow needs rather than a single major purchase.

A facility that can move with the business

Suppose a company has a $200,000 approved revolving limit. It may draw $40,000 for stock, then repay some or all of that amount from sales before drawing again. This is an illustration, not an offer of a specific limit or product.

How costs are typically calculated

Some revolving facilities charge interest on drawn balances, while others also have establishment, unused-limit, line or monthly fees. It is important to review every charge and renewal condition.

Not the same as a term loan

A term loan typically advances a set amount with a repayment schedule. A revolving facility is intended to be accessed repeatedly, subject to the agreement and ongoing lender requirements.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Before you enquire.

Practical answers to common questions about business line of credit & overdraft alternatives.

Do I have to draw the full amount?

Not normally for a true revolving line of credit. Borrowings may be drawn as needed up to the available approved limit, under the terms.

Will I pay interest on unused funds?

Product structures differ. Some calculate interest on drawn amounts, but fees may apply to the line even when nothing is drawn.

Can I have a line of credit and an equipment loan?

Potentially yes, if the total debt, repayments and securities are acceptable to all relevant lenders.

How is a business overdraft different?

Both can provide flexible cash access, but an overdraft is commonly linked to a transaction account while other revolving facilities may operate separately.

Can I use it for wages or marketing?

Approved business working-capital purposes can include operating expenses, subject to facility terms and lender rules.
